The garden of Broad How is nearly an acre in total, with several different areas - an upper and lower lawn, a summer house with outdoor slate table, a children's play area built from recycled tyres and sleepers [featuring an old boat kindly donated by Ullswater Sailing School] and even a secret music cave, with the skeleton of the old pianola.....  Up above the back of the house, under the huge ancient yew tree admired by Wordsworth himself more than 200 years ago, [even then it was referred to as the 'old yew tree!'] there is a whole other world waiting to be discovered by young visitors in particular.

There are now five beautiful new commissioned wooden benches each commemorating family members who have loved this house and garden, and each of course with a wonderful view guaranteed.   Visitors who are booking Cherry How as well as Broad How also get access to the lovely sitting out area at the side of the cottage, where you can look out on the lane and up the valley.

There is space for parking five cars in the front car park at Broad How - space and access is required for two vehicles for Cherry How who share this space.  Visitors with more cars can use the lower gate and park on the drive, and around the back of the house.  This is also the best option for electric vehicles - Broad How now has a charging point, located on the lower side of the house, by the bike shed - this is accessed by the lower gate. The key to the bike shed can be found in the key box on the left hand side of the bookshelf in the entrance hall.
